Remember how close the 2000 presidential election was? How about the 1998 governor’s race won by 7,000 votes out of 1.5 million cast? Each year, CPC organizes some of the largest civic engagement programs in the state, and conducts non-partisan voter education drives so that more low- and middle-income people, communities of color, LGBTQ people, and young people are represented in our democracy. CPC registers thousands of new voters, conducts voter education to tens of thousands about ballot initiatives, organizes Get Out The Vote drives, and works to push elected officials to advocate for a more progressive future for Colorado. Rated by TrueMajority.org, as one of the nation’s top five community voter programs in 2004, CPC works to educate, engage, and build democracy for those communities and constituencies that are most often ignored and left out of the political process.
